Every photo is a love letter.
To the two of you. To your family. To the version of today you'll want to come back to in twenty years.
I'm Emma Cohen, a documentary photographer based in Los Angeles, and I'm always happy to pack a bag and travel wherever your story takes us.
I've loved taking photos of anything and everything for as long as I can remember. Two years ago, one of my best friends begged me to photograph her sister's proposal. I was so nervous, but she told me she knew I'd be amazing. Somewhere between the "yes" and the happy tears, I knew this had to be my job.
What I fell in love with that day are the moments most people walk right past: the deep breath before a big question, a hand that won't stop shaking, the laughter that spills out when everyone stops trying to look perfect.
Those are the moments I live for. A veil caught in the wind. A grandmother's hand resting on a shoulder. The second right after the kiss, when the whole room exhales. They're small and unplanned, and they're often the ones that mean the most years later.
My job is to notice them for you, so when you look back, you don't just see what happened. You feel it all over again.
